‘Doors of Thrones’ wins Outdoor Grand Prix and a Gold at Epica Awards 2016

At last night’s Epica Awards, the only advertising awards scheme to be judged by journalists, Publicis London won the Outdoor Grand Prix and a Gold in the Illustration category for its Tourism Ireland ‘Doors of Thrones’ campaign.

Part of a wider campaign for Tourism Ireland which has leveraged the success of Game of Thrones – which is filmed in the country, Doors of Thrones features ten beautifully crafted doors, carved from the famous Dark Hedges trees that appeared in the show but blew down in a storm, and are now hung in pubs across Northern Ireland, creating a tour of the country for Game of Thrones fans.

Dave Monk, Executive Creative Director, Publicis London says: “Who’d have thought combining two of our favourite pastimes’ pubs and Game of Thrones®, would help us pick up an Epica Grand Prix? We feel hugely honoured. It also feels all the more significant because it was voted for by a jury outside our usual advertising bubble. So huge thanks to them. Also our client, Tourism Ireland and everyone involved in the campaign, as well as a respectful doff of our helmets and swords to the craftsmen and women who created and carved out the idea so brilliantly. Thank you.”
